featuring Actually Gay Men's Chorus and Actually Gay Women's Chorus. Taking place on a night of storms and gale force winds the show was a total sell-out. Thank you to our supporters for braving the weather and coming to enjoy with us carols and seasonal music. Both choruses loved the evening and are looking forward to singing both separately and together in 2014. Happy New Year to everybody.
SHOWTIME was the first solo show for Actually Gay Women's Chorus. It included favourites from the shows as well as more modern numbers arranged specially for the Chorus by Jason Pimblett.
Some songs from Showtime are still favourites in the current repertoire.
What is happening now ...
The Spring Term is under-way for Actually Gay Women's Chorus (see below).
Last week also saw the beginning of a series of Master classes for some of both Actually Choruses entitled "Trademus Lampeda" (Let Us Hand Down The torch of Wisdom) created and run by Joe McJoe
What has been happening lately ...
Actually Gay Women's Chorus joined up with the city's other LGBT choruses at St Mary's Church Kemptown for the World Aids Day Concert on 1 December. What a splendid experience it was to be singing in such a wonderful church, packed with supporters of the cause with the glorious singing reaching for the rafters. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and very interesting to hear the other choirs performing at the same event. All the choirs sang wonderfully but it was gratifying for AGWC to be specially mentioned by GScene in its review.
The Spring Term
The repertoire is carefully selected and arranged for female voices singing together. The Chorus will be working towards a Spring Show at Easter so please watch out for more information and details. Rehearsals are held Upstairs at the Bulldog kindly sponsored by Dean Holmes, owner of the Bulldog. Please arrive by 7.50 to give you time to buy a drink and then come upstairs ready to start singing at 8 o'clock.

What else is happening in the Gay World?
With Spring coming and the first Gay Marriages in Brighton already booked, let us remember gay people in other countries who are not so free. In India homosexuality is once again illegal; in the West Indies and Uganda gay people are vilified continually; in Russia Putin has instigated a process of persecution. There are many other places where it is unsafe to be openly gay. The picture above shows a rather witty protest gift of Russian Dolls made for Putin depicting some celebrity protesters against what is happening in Russia.
